Instructions

  • Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
    • Whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and ½ cup of sugar in a mixing bowl until well combined.
  • Mix the Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together 150 grams of fresh milk, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of melted butter, and a pinch of salt until fully incorporated.
  • Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain a light texture.
  • Pour Batter into Molds:
    • Grease silicone molds or muffin cups and fill them about three-quarters full with the batter.
  • Steam the Batter:
    • Place the molds in a preheated steamer and steam for 10 minutes over medium heat.
  • Add Cheese Topping:
    • After 10 minutes, open the steamer and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each puto. Cover the steamer again and steam for another 2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Cool and Serve:
    • Remove the molds from the steamer and let the puto cool slightly before serving.
